President Joe Biden said Tuesday that his staff are working to arrange a direct summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was nailed around his planned trip to Europe. ..
Biden will meet with G7 Group leaders in Cornwall, England, June 11-13, and then stop in Brussels on June 14 for the annual NATO Summit.
“That’s my hope and expectation. We’re working on it,” Biden said about encouraging people to get the coronavirus vaccine when asked about meeting Putin. I made a statement.
President Joe Biden said it was his “hope and expectation” to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during his next trip to Europe, but his aides have not yet arranged a summit.
Until Monday, his aides avoided asking questions about the specific plans for the meeting.
The meeting between Biden and Putin, who will be his first president, comes at a tense time.
His administration imposed sanctions on many Russian figures and groups last month after a lengthy review of Russia’s activities, from election intervention to the hacking of SolarWinds.

The White House said the sanctions were in response to “harmful foreign activity in Russia.” The administration also admitted that Russia did not place high confidence in other claims that it had paid a bounty to US troops serving in Afghanistan.
Earlier, the United States sanctioned Russians and entities for being addicted to nerve agent Novichok by opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
US and Russian officials have been working on potential conferences in third countries.
Biden’s predecessor held a notorious summit with Putin in Helsinki during the presidential election, engrossed in investigating the relationship between campaign aides and Russia. Trump was facing a counterattack at the time as he appeared to have accepted Putin’s denial of interference in the 2016 presidential election.
